Assembly Excellence

High-Quality PCBA Services with Fast Turnaround

What File Requirements Are Needed for PCBA?

To begin your Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) project, we require several essential files in specific formats. You can submit these files to us in one of two ways: through our online PCB quote page or by emailing them to [email protected] . If emailing, please include your order number in the email subject line as "Files for [Your Order Number]" to ensure prompt processing.

Gerber Files

For PCBA, we need the same Gerber files (in RS-274X format) that you provided for your PCB fabrication. At a minimum, these must include three key layers: Silkscreen, Copper (Track), and Solder Paste. Please ensure all required layers are included and thoroughly reviewed on your end before submission. We will also conduct a detailed review of your files prior to assembly to confirm that all information is complete and accurate, ensuring a smooth production process.

Note: Whether you submit Gerber files, .pcbdoc, .cam, or .brd files, they must be compressed into a .rar or .zip format with a maximum file size of 40 MB.

  • Accepted File Extensions: .rar or .zip
  • Maximum Size: 40 MB

Bill of Materials (BOM)

The Bill of Materials (BOM) is a comprehensive list of components required to manufacture your final product. It specifies the parts needed for assembly, their quantities, and their precise placement on the board. We accept BOM files only in .xls or .xlsx formats. Note that BOM requirements differ slightly depending on your order type: Turn-key and Partial Turn-key orders may require additional details compared to Consigned/Kitted orders.

Note: Ensure your BOM is submitted in .xls or .xlsx format and does not exceed 5 MB in size.

  • Accepted File Formats: .xls, .xlsx
  • Maximum Size: 5 MB

BOM for Consigned/Kitted Orders

For consigned or kitted orders, the BOM should include at least the following details:

  • Line #
  • Quantity per Part Number
  • Reference Designator
  • Part Number
  • Part Description
  • Package
  • Type (e.g., Surface Mount, Through-Hole, or Hybrid)

BOM for Turn-key and Partial Turn-key Orders

For Turn-key or Partial Turn-key orders, please include the above information plus:

  • Manufacturer’s Name
  • Manufacturer’s Part Number
  • Distributor’s Part Number (if applicable)

Centroid File

The Centroid file (also known as Pick-and-Place, Insertion, or XY Data) is critical for programming our assembly machines efficiently. This file details the position and orientation of all surface-mount components, including:

  • Reference Designator
  • X and Y Coordinates
  • Rotation (in degrees)
  • Side of Board (Top or Bottom)

Some CAD tools generate this file automatically, while others may require manual adjustments before export. Only surface-mount parts should be included in the Centroid file.

Note: Compress your Centroid file into .rar or .zip format, with a maximum size of 50 MB.

  • Accepted File Extensions: .rar or .zip
  • Maximum Size: 40 MB

Additional Information

To ensure your PCB assembly meets your expectations, we highly recommend providing supplementary materials. These may include:

  • Assembly drawings
  • Special assembly instructions
  • Images, photos, or diagrams of your project

While not mandatory, these documents help us better understand your requirements, resolve ambiguities, and avoid potential errors during assembly. Submitting them upfront can significantly enhance the quality and accuracy of the final product.
